The Klondike Solitaire playbook
Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Klondike Solitaire. Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Read the objective before making your first input. Look at what changes after your first action.
One deck; draw-one or draw-three stock; waste recycling. Free solo play, no wagering.
One thing to notice as you play
Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board. Use the example to check your reasoning.
The objective of a round
Build four suit foundations from ace to king. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. Try to explain the aim in your own words.
The order of play
- Build down in alternating colours; kings fill empty columns. Valid ordered runs move together.
- Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
- Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
- Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.
How to interact with the game
Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Read the example below alongside these instructions.
Try this example
A red 6 fits a black 7, not another red 7. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Choose a deliberate next step.
An important reminder
Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. A different version of the game may use a different rule. After a move, check what changed. Decide which rule explains the new state before acting again.
